Concrete Removal in Austin, TX
Old driveways, patios, slabs and walkways broken out and hauled off, or a pile of concrete someone has already broken up taken away. One price after a free on-site look.
Two ways to book concrete removal
Concrete removal starts from one of two places: the concrete is still in the ground, or it is already broken up and lying on it.
We break it out and haul it
The driveway, patio or slab is still in place. We break the concrete out, load the broken concrete and haul the concrete off: breaking and hauling are one job and one quote.
We haul concrete that is already broken
You, or another contractor, have already broken the concrete up. Hauling the broken concrete off is a debris haul-off job, quoted on site like any other load.
Concrete we break out and haul
- Driveways
- Patios
- Slabs
- Walkways
- Porches and steps
- Footings, on request
If footings or posts are set in concrete below the surface, say so when you book, and we will include pulling them in the quote.
What changes the price of concrete removal
Your free on-site quote gives you one price before the work is booked. These are the things that move it.
Still in place, or already broken
Breaking concrete out is more work than loading a pile that is already broken.
How much concrete there is
The area of the driveway, patio or slab, and how thick the concrete is, set how much material comes out.
What is inside it
Concrete with rebar or wire mesh in it is part of what we look at before quoting.
The way in
A driveway at the street is a shorter carry than a patio behind the house with a gate in between.
What a published guide says concrete removal costs
Every concrete job is quoted on site, after we have seen the concrete and the way in, and that on-site quote is the price you pay for everything quoted. A published range is a budget figure, not a quote.
HomeAdvisor's house demolition cost guide lists driveway demolition at $1 to $2 per square foot and foundation demolition at $1,000 to $5,000 (HomeAdvisor, read 2026-10-21).
The guide shows no updated date, so the date above is the date it was read. Its other demolition figures are not repeated here, because the same page gives them differently in different places.
Where broken concrete can go
Texas sorts landfills by what they may accept. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality describes Type IV landfills as limited to brush, construction and demolition waste, and rubbish (TCEQ landfill types, read 2026-09-12), and its table of accepted wastes allows construction and demolition waste at both Type I and Type IV landfills (TCEQ RG-606, read 2026-09-12).
TCEQ also notes that a landfill may decline a kind of waste even where its permit allows it, and that the way to find out is to contact the landfill directly. City and county drop-off programs around Austin, with their sources, are in where the debris goes, in the Central Texas demolition guide.
When we haul the concrete, where it goes is part of the job and part of the quote.
Before the concrete comes out
Whether a city requires a permit to remove a driveway, patio or slab is set by that city, and the property owner confirms it with the city before the work date. The guide to demolition permits in Central Texas collects the published demolition rules of the cities it covers, with sources and read dates.
Permits, utility disconnection and any required inspections are the property owner's responsibility. If a pipe or a line runs under or through the concrete, tell us when you book.
Concrete removal frequently asked questions
Will you haul away concrete I already broke up?
Yes. Concrete that is already broken up is a haul-off job, quoted on site by how much concrete is there. You do not need us to have done the breaking.
Do you remove the footings too?
Yes, on request. Let us know if you want footings below the surface pulled as well as the concrete above them, and we will include the footings in your quote.
What is left after a driveway or patio comes out?
The ground that was under it, with the concrete gone. If you have plans for that ground afterward, raise them at the on-site quote.
Do I need a permit to remove a driveway?
That depends on the city where the property sits, and the city is the authority on it. Published demolition rules for the cities around Austin, with sources and read dates, are in the Central Texas demolition permit guide.
How much does concrete removal cost in Austin?
There is no fixed price; it depends on how much concrete there is, whether it is already broken, and the access. A published range is further up this page and in our demolition cost guide. For your job, call (512) 522-3569 or request a free on-site quote online.
When more than concrete is coming out
